All About P50: A Breakdown of Every Formulation

The Lotions P50 are Biologique Recherche’s unique acid toners; the fruit of 30 years of reflection and experience. At Tres Belle Spa, we believe incorporating our special facial massage together with Biologique Recherche’s P50 formulations has led us to be voted “Best Skincare Brooklyn” consecutively for years. These balancing and exfoliating lotions speed up the epidermis’ natural exfoliating process and the reconstruction of the epidermal shield. The fortified epidermis can then fulfill its protective functions completely, enhancing the skin’s self-regeneration potential.

The Lotion P50 ritual is a key stage in all Tres Belle Biologique Recherche facials; it not only exfoliates, but it also purifies, regenerates and maintains the pH of the epidermis. The chemical exfoliation of the skin is a procedure that happens thanks to the topical application of a cocktail of hydroxy acids. All Lotions P50 contain a potent combination of AHA, BHA and PHA exfoliants: lactic acid, malic acid, citric acid, salicylic acid and gluconolactone, to act as a chemical exfoliator. As its name indicates, the Lotions P50 gently renews the skin over 50 days – ‘P’ stands for peeling and ‘50’ stands for 50 days – which represents about two epidermal cycles, for a gentle yet effective exfoliating process. For best results we recommended you tap or pat P50 into skin am and pm. You may want to dilute it for 2 weeks by running a cotton pad under cold water, squeezing most of the water out, and then applying your P50 to the pad before tapping onto skin.

P50 lotions gently exfoliate, balance excess sebum, moisturize and help maintain the skin’s acidic pH. For 40 years, Biologique Recherche has been developing this unique skincare program that supports the natural exfoliation process of the epidermis to aid the reconstruction of the epidermal shield.

P50 1970:
Lotion P50 1970 with phenol is the most popular formula of P50. It is a gentle, all-in-one toner balances, purifies, strengthens and exfoliates. It is is recommended for oily, mature, stronger, thicker or seborrheic skin types. It helps speed up the epidermis’ natural exfoliating process and the reconstruction of the epidermal shield while helping skin hold hydration. oily,*Please note: 1970 indicates trace amounts of phenol present in the product. Do not use any 1970 formulation if pregnant or breastfeeding.

P50:
P50 helps shed dead skin cells and increase the rate of cell renewal for softer, radiant and younger-looking skin. It balances Sebum excretion - if you have an oily t-zone and dry cheeks, using Lotion P50 will create a balance between the two and help the skin restore vitality. P50 balances, exfoliates and helps skin hold hydration.

P50 PIGM 400:
P50 PIGM 400 is a vitamin-enriched exfoliating lotion that gently purifies, brightens and fades out the appearance of pigmentation spots. Along with the exfoliation and re-balancing properties, it helps to fade and prevent dark spots. This is a great choice for summer.

P50V:
Enriched with vitamins,  Biologique Recherche Lotion P50V is beneficial for improving the natural PH balance of the skin. P50V contains a yeast extract which is rich in B vitamins and has brightening, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. It’s the best P50 for dry skin. It will nourish and hydrate dry skin types and also mature skin. P50V is also available in a 1970 version. *Please note: 1970 indicates trace amounts of phenol present in the product. Do not use any 1970 formulation if pregnant or breastfeeding.

P50W:
Made for reactive and sensitive skin, Lotion P50W is a slightly softer version of the original. P50W exfoliating lotion contains Arnica extract as an active ingredient which is useful in calming the skin. This is the most gentle version of all P50’s.
